Christmas Isn’t Over, It’s Just Begun!

It’s December 26th, but Christmas isn’t over.  It’s just begun!  Christmas is more than a day; historically, Christians have celebrated Christmas as a season that kicks off on December 25th and runs until January 5th.  Many Christian traditions still emphasize the length of the celebration, but somehow I missed the clues in the classic song describing “The 12 Days of Christmas.”

Maybe you’re already exhausted from the busyness.  After the Big Day we often pivot our focus to hunting for Boxing Day sales, packing away decorations, and finally relaxing after the rush.  Ironically, we almost miss the Christmas season entirely!

So let me invite you to calmly and quietly enjoy the best kept secret of Christmas (the next 10 days!) by reflecting on short passages and answering the question “Who was Jesus?”

Here is a list of suggested Christmas season readings.

December 25     Luke 2:1-20
December 26     John 1:1-5
December 27     John 1:9-14
December 28     Luke 2:21-35
December 29     Luke 2:36-40
